    Wimbledon 2021: Sameer Banerjee becomes junior champion, equals Roger Federer-Leander Paes


    London. Sameer Banerjee became the junior champion of Wimbledon. The Indian-American won the Wimbledon Boys’ Singles title at Wimbledon on Sunday. Sameer Banerjee defeated America’s Victor Lilov in the final 7-5, 6-3. With this victory, he included himself in the elite group of veterans like Roger Federer, Stefan Edberg, Gael Monfils. Federer, Edberg, Monfils also started their careers by winning junior titles at Wimbledon.

    17-year-old Sameer Banerjee was knocked out in the first round at the Junior French Open, but performed brilliantly at Wimbledon. They had to fight to win the first set but easily won the second set 6-3 to take the title. Sameer’s parents migrated to America in the 1980s.
