    Wimbledon 2021: Maria Cisak to be first female chair umpire at Wimbledon men’s singles final


    Wimbledon. For the first time in the history of the tennis Grand Slam Wimbledon, a woman will take the role of chair umpire for the men’s singles final. Maria Cicac will serve as the women’s chair umpire for the men’s singles final to be held on Sunday. The All England Club reported this information on Saturday.

    Wimbledon started in 1877. Croatia’s 43-year-old Maria Cisak will officiate in Sunday’s title match where legendary Novak Djokovic faces Matteo Berrettini at the All England Club. The club announced the selection of Sisak. She has twice served as chair umpire in Grand Slam women’s singles finals. He did so at Wimbledon and the US Open.

    Maria is the chair umpire of the ‘Gold Batch’ and has been a member of the WTA Elite team since 2012. She was also the chair umpire for the 2014 Wimbledon Women’s Final and then performed the same duties for the Women’s Doubles Final three years later. She officiated in the women’s singles gold medal match at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
