    Rafael Nadal withdrew from Wimbledon and Tokyo Olympics, decided to build a career


    New Delhi. Spanish legend Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from this year’s Wimbledon and Tokyo Olympics. In the semi-finals of the French Open, he had to face a miserable defeat to the star player Novak Djokovic. Djokovic beat young Greek Tsitsipas in the final to win the title, the 19th Grand Slam of his career. Nadal has taken this decision to increase his fitness and tennis career.

    The tennis star announced his decision by sharing a post on social media. Nadal recently participated in the French Open-2021 but failed to make it past the semifinals. Now he has pulled out of the upcoming Grand Slam Wimbledon and the Olympic Games due to fitness issues. He took this decision to prolong his professional life.

    The former world number 1 player wrote, ‘I would like to inform you that I have decided not to participate in the next season of Wimbledon, which will be held from June 28 to July 11. I will also not play in the Olympic Games to be held on July 24-30.

    He also wrote, ‘I think this is the right decision to extend my playing career and continue playing the game which makes me happy.’ Serbian legend Novak Djokovic defeated clay court king Nadal 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 in the semi-finals of the French Open.
