Indian Wells (USA). Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov has reached the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Masters tennis tournament for the first time. In the quarterfinals, 23rd seed Dimitrov defeated eighth seed Hubert Hurkaj 3–6, 6–4, 7–6. Britain’s Cameron Norrie defeated 11th seed Diego Schwartzman 6-0, 6-2. In the women’s section, 12th seed Once Jabeur also advanced to the semifinals, defeating Annette Contavet 7-5, 6-3. The win will see the Tunisian break into the top ten of the world rankings for the first time. 10th seed Angelique Kerber was defeated by 21st seed Paola Badosa 6-4, 7-5.
Badosa previously beat Coco Go and Barbara Krejcikova. He will play Jabeur in the semi-finals. Victoria Azarenka will face Jelena Ostapenko in the second semi-final. Dimitrov reaches his first ATP Masters 1000 semifinal of the season. He recently lost to Medvedev in the fourth round at the Cincinnati Open.
Earlier, Dimitrov defeated top seed Daniil Medvedev 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open. 23rd-ranked Dimitrov defeated a player in the top two for the first time since 2016.
