    Indian challenge ends in US Open qualifiers, Sania Mirza enters Cleveland semis

    New York. In the US Open qualifier, Prajnesh Guneswaran lost in straight sets to American Christopher Eubanks in the second round. India’s single challenge ended with this. Indian player Prajnesh, ranked 156 in the world, lost to Eubanks, ranked 216, 6-3, 6-4. Guneswaran qualified for the main draw in 2019 where he lost to Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the first round.

    India’s Sumit Nagal and Ramkumar Ramanathan had to face defeat in the first round. Nagal lost to Argentina’s Juan Pablo Ficovic 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, while Ramkumar lost to Russia’s Yevgeny Donskoy 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. Ankita Raina lost to American Jamie Loeb 3-6, 6-2, 4-6 in the first round of the women’s singles qualifier.

    On the other hand, the pair of India’s Sania Mirza and Christina McHale of America reached the semifinals of the Cleveland Tennis Tournament. Sania and McHale beat Czech Republic’s Lucie Radesca and China’s Shuai Zhang 6-3, 6-3.

    He registered an easy win by redeeming 5 out of 9 break points. Now he will face the pair of Norway’s Ulrik Ikari and America’s Kathryn Harrison. Sania and McHale have not lost a set so far in the tournament. She defeated Georgia’s Oksana Kalashnikova and Romania’s Andrea Mitu 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.
