Cleveland. India’s star tennis player Sania Mirza and her American partner Christina Meckel entered the quarterfinals of the Cleveland Tennis Championships after registering straight sets wins. Sania and Makel defeated Georgia’s Oksana Kalashnikova and Romania’s Andrea Meitu 6-3, 6-2 in the women’s doubles pre-quarterfinals.
Sania and Makel dominated from the start and at no point did their opponents get a chance to come back. He easily won the first set and maintained his momentum in the second set as well.
Disappointing performance in Tokyo
Earlier this month, he had a very disappointing performance at the Tokyo Olympics. Sania entered her fourth Olympics on the court alongside Ankita Raina, but fell 0-6, 7-6, 10-8 to Ukrainian twin sisters Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadia Kichenok in the first round.
