Purnia. Sadar police today arrested four inter-state smugglers with arms cash. Police received secret information that some inter-state smugglers were going to Bengal with huge amount of arms. Based on the information, a police team led by trainee DSP Anand Mohan Gupta was formed. After that, the police team stopped a Swift Desire car at Zero Mile and investigated, when four interstate smugglers were caught. Munger automatic pistols, three loaded magazines and cartridges were recovered from the smugglers.
During a press conference on Friday, Purnia SP Dayashankar said the four interstate traffickers were residents of Munger. They used to supply arms to many districts of Bihar including Bengal and UP. The SP said interrogation showed that members of his group also provided large weapons. These people have gone to jail before.

Among the arrested traffickers are Sajid Alam alias Sonu, a resident of Munger. Chunnu, m. Mossaddiq and Md. Shahnawaz Alam included. FIRs have been registered against the smugglers in Nabagachhia, Munger and Lakhisarai on charges of arms smuggling. All of them are being arrested and sent to jail. The SP said other links to the smugglers were also being investigated. He said it was a great achievement of the Purnia police.
