Travel abroad and get success again
Dr. Farooq Ghulam Patel arrived in Mumbai from Gujarat with a desire to do something big. Did a lot of small jobs in the beginning. Worked as an optometrist for a small salary and then studied import-export trade. For further studies, he moved to the Manmade Textile Research Association in 1990.
Dr Farooq Ghulam Patel arrived in England in 1991. However, he also faced initial struggles abroad and started working in a cafe. After 2 years away from the country, he returned to Surat in 1993. Soon after his arrival in the country he started a carting company. But in 1994, he established the KP Group with a capital of Rs 1 lakh.
2000 crore business started from 1 lakh today
A turning point in Dr. Patel’s journey came when he started KP Buildcon Pvt. This company started working in telecom sector in 2001. After realizing the importance of communication and the growing need for communication towers, he strategically decided to grow his company across 16 states in India. After succeeding in this business, he entered the renewable energy market.
He entered the solar energy industry in 2008 by setting up KPI Green Energy. Then, in 2010, he founded KP Energy with an emphasis on wind power projects, expanding his portfolio significantly. Today Dr Farooq Ghulam Patel’s company has over 1500 acres of land, the largest private solar park in Gujarat and a green energy portfolio of over 2 GW. KP Group has a pan India business empire of over Rs 2,000 crore.
