NEET: Tamil Nadu government will bring a bill to cancel NEET in the state, Chief Minister informed

New Delhi. NEET: The Tamil Nadu government may exempt the National Medical Entrance Test (NEET 2021) for admission to state medical courses. The government is going to introduce a bill for this in the state assembly. The previous AIADMK government had also tried it, but it backtracked due to lack of approval from the President.

Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had said in the assembly that the government would introduce the bill in the current session itself. The Chief Minister made the announcement while replying to a question raised by MLA Udayanidhi Stalin regarding the cancellation of NEET exam in the state. He said that the government will introduce the bill after thoroughly studying the report prepared by the panel headed by Justice AK Rajan.

    NEET: Report submitted last month
Significantly, Justice AK Rajan had submitted a 165-page report to the state government a month ago. After which Justice Rajan said that many people were against the entrance exam. He had said that NEET only helps students from affluent communities to become doctors, due to which there may be a shortage of doctors in rural areas.

NEET: Students keep preparing for the exam
The Tamil Nadu government, however, is urging candidates to prepare for NEET. Recently the Health Minister Mr. Subramaniam had said that students should keep preparing for NEET this year, even if the government wants to end it. Actually, the politics of Tamil Nadu has become associated with the medical test. Both the AIADMK and DMK governments have strongly opposed NEET.
