Guwahati. Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s condition is still critical. His physical condition improved slightly on Sunday morning. Doctors tending to him said the former chief minister’s condition is “extremely critical”. Guwahati Medical College Superintendent Abhijit Sharma said a team of nine doctors is attending to the veteran Congress leader, who has crossed 80 years of age.
Very fragile condition
The 84-year-old Congress leader is undergoing treatment at the Guwahati Medical College. “Gogoi’s current health condition is very critical and doctors are doing their best,” the doctors said. Assam Health Minister Hemant Biswa Sharma is present at GMCH along with Gogoi’s son Gaurav.
Still on ventilator
Gogoi is on ventilator and many of his organs have stopped working. On Sunday he was on dialysis which lasted for six hours. Gogoi, the three-time chief minister of Assam, was admitted to GMCH on November 2. He was put on ventilator when his condition deteriorated on Saturday night.

Corona happened first
Gogoi was diagnosed with Covid-19 on August 25. Gogoi complained of restlessness in October, after which he was admitted to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital ICU. Gogoi, a three-time chief minister of Assam, was discharged from the hospital on October 25 after recovering from Covid-19. He was given plasma therapy and later stabilized. Gogoi was under the supervision of a team of 9 doctors at his residence. (with PTI input)
