    Telangana CM Rao met Prime Minister Modi on increasing the number of IPS officers


    Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase the number of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the state in view of creating more districts. Rao met Modi in the national capital on Friday and sought 100% funding for road construction in Naxal-affected areas of the state, exceeding the 60:40 ratio (60 per cent state share and 40 per cent center).     Chief Minister Rao said that internal security issues are of national importance. At the same time, Rao said in a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, “The allocation will help IPS officers such as Commissioners / Superintendents of Police / Deputy Inspector Generals of Police / IGs of Police to be deployed in different field units. Currently, there is no approved number of cadre posts for these regional units. He left here on September 1 for Delhi.

    The Chandrasekhar Rao government has created 33 districts in the state, up from 10 earlier. Rao had requested the Center for approval of 21 Jawaharlal Nehru Schools in view of the increasing number of districts. To encourage Telangana’s textile sector, Chief Minister Modi was requested to provide one-time assistance of Rs 1,000 crore for Warangal Textile Park.

    He called on the Prime Minister to expedite the establishment of a tribal university in the state, as promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reconstruction Act, 201in. Rao said the state government has allotted 200 acres of land near Warangal for this. He called on Modi to approve an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in the state under Public Private Partnership (PPP) like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Karimnagar. He said there is enough land available at Hyderabad University for this.
