Pune. Sharad Pawar, head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), said prices of agricultural commodities were falling in the country because the central government was not paying attention to the problems of farmers. Speaking at a Kisan meeting in Junnar, Pune district, Power said when he was Union Agriculture Minister for 10 years in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, he made sure that farmers would get good prices for their agricultural produce.
He said there are many questions in front of the farmers today. Prices of agricultural products have come down. People (farmers) are throwing away their agricultural products … not even getting the cost. There is a worrying situation for everyone. The only exception to this is sugarcane, because the price of sugar has gone up in the last few days and if it continues like this, you will get better prices for cane. “
The NCP expressed dissatisfaction with the presence of a small number of women at the main event. Power, who has been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra four times, said, “There are only a few women in the program. Why don’t women take part in the program? When I was in charge of the state, I secured 50 per cent seats for women in panchayat committees, district councils and market committees.”
Women and men need to work together if we want to take the country forward.
