It has been more than nine months since the farmers protested against the agricultural law. Farmers are demanding the repeal of their laws which will remove their fears from the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system, so that they go to the mercy of big business groups. The government is describing these laws as major agricultural reforms and in the interest of farmers. There have been more than 10 rounds of talks between the government and farmers’ organizations, although the stalemate has not ended.

The United Kisan Morcha, which has been agitating for the last nine months against three new agricultural laws of the central government, declared ‘Bharat Bandh’ on September 2 at the Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday. On the other hand, different parties, including the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had different reactions to the Kisan Mahapanchayat. ‘Bharat Bandh’ will be held on 2nd September. The Kisan Morcha has said that everything will be closed in the country during the ‘India shutdown’ on September 27.
