Kabul. At least one person was killed when he was trampled while crossing the Afghanistan-Pakistan border on Thursday. CNN reports that Pakistan has temporarily closed the Chaman border crossing, the second-largest commercial border point in Afghanistan. This border crossing connects Boldak, a border town in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, with the town of Chaman on the Pakistani border.
The video of the incident is going viral on social media where hundreds of people are trying to enter Pakistan after the Taliban took over Afghanistan. Sharing this video, the former presenter of Tolo News shared a video related to it, claiming that four people died in the incident.
“Pakistan-Afghanistan border with Spin Boldak and Kandahar is closed. People are dying because of the crowds. Thousands of people, including women and children, are still sleeping near the border,” Muslim Shirzad posted on Twitter with a video.

Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan last month, thousands of Afghans have either gathered at Kabul airport or are on the border with neighboring countries and are trying to flee the war-torn country for fear of retaliation by Islamic fundamentalists. Pakistan is also seeing a huge influx of Afghan refugees, who are crossing the main border in the Spin Boldak area.
Pakistani Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had earlier indicated that the Chaman crossing could be closed for several days due to security threats, though he did not specify how long the border would remain closed. CNN quoted an official with Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency as saying that about 5,000 Afghans had denied entry to the Islamabad Spin Boldak crossing on Wednesday.
