    Gujarat: Two policemen have been sacked for beating an army jawan


    Junagadh (Gujarat). Two policemen from Gujarat’s Junagadh district were suspended on Friday for allegedly beating an army jawan. The action was taken after the video related to the incident went viral. An official said Rajesh Bandia and Chetan Makwana, who were posted at Bantwa police station, have been suspended on the orders of Junagadh Superintendent of Police Ravi Teja Vasamseti.

    The video relates to an incident that took place on the night of August 2nd in the village of Padardi in Manabdar taluk, where accused policemen were seen beating up Army jawan Kanhavhai Keshwala, who had come to his village on holiday. Police have arrested six people in the incident. One of those arrested was Kanaivai Govindbhai Keshavala, who was serving in the country’s army, and the army man’s mother alleged that she and her family members had been brutally beaten by police. The video of an army jawan being beaten by police personnel also went viral on social media. This has angered the army soldiers.

    Commenting on the whole incident, Keshod DYSP JB Gadhvi said, “This incident is being termed as extremely unfortunate and the whole matter will be properly investigated.” Considering the seriousness of the incident, district police chief Rajesh Parbat Bandia and Chetan Debashi Makwana of the police station have been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against other police personnel.
