New Delhi. Veteran football player and former Indian captain Vaichung Bhutia has filed fresh nominations for the post of president in the All India Football Federation elections to be held on Thursday, September 2. The 45-year-old Padma Shri awardee’s name was proposed by the Andhra Football Association and approved by the Rajasthan Football Association.
“I have submitted my nomination for the post of AIFF president and I think I am the most suitable person for the post,” Bhutia told PTI. Bhutia had earlier submitted his nomination for the post of President. Her name was then suggested by her former teammate Deepak Mondal and renowned women’s footballer Madhu Kumari approved it.
Former Mohun Bagan and East Bengal goalkeeper and West Bengal BJP leader Kalyan Chaubey is also being considered as a strong contender for the post of President. Chaube’s name was proposed by the Gujarat Football Association and approved by the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association.
