The ‘NH Pandey Independence Day Children’s Football’ tournament was organized on this day at the historic DSA ground in the tourist town of Mallital, Uttarakhand. 12 school teams are participating in this tournament. The special thing about this tournament is that its first final was played at this ground on Independence Day i.e. 15 August 1947. Only school students up to class VIII can participate in it. 12 teams are participating in this year’s tournament, divided into 4 pools. Birla Vidya Mandir, GD JM Chorgalia and BSSV in Pool A, Saraswati Shiksha Mandir in Pool B, Sanwal School and Woodbridge School, Lakes International Bhimtal in Pool C, St Joseph and Naini School, RSSV Nishant in Pool D, Long View Public School. and including Lex International.

Jatiya Shaheed Sainik Smriti Vidyapeeth Mallital team coach Kundan Singh Suwal said that this tournament could not be organized for two years due to Corona. Lalit Tiwari, a member of this association said that every year this competition is held from August 1 to August 15 and its final match is held on August 15. The first final of this competition was held on 15 August 1947. which was played between CRST School and GIC. This year the tournament is sponsored by Nainital Bank.
