    Copa Final: Neymar’s Brazil vs Messi’s Argentina


    Buenos Aires. The frenzy between these two teams speaks to the hearts of football fans around the world and when Neymar’s Brazil take on Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the Copa America final, viewers around the world will be entertained in front of the TV. The Copa America final between Brazil and Argentina will be played at the historic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday. The tournament, surrounded by controversies due to the Corona pandemic and the change of host on occasion, could not have ended better.

    Reigning champions Brazil and Argentina have won a total of seven World Cups and 23 Copa America titles. Messi will want the first major title for the country. Argentina last won a major title in 1993. Messi was part of the team that lost the 2007, 2015 and 2016 Copa finals and lost to Germany in the 2014 World Cup final.

    After beating Colombia in the semi-finals, captain Lionel Messi said, ‘My biggest wish is to win the title for my country. We dream big and strive to fulfill them.” Neymar missed the 2019 Copa Final due to injury. When Brazil beat Peru 1.0 to reach the final, Neymar said he wanted to play in the final with Argentina.

    Neymar and Messi are good friends, having won the Champions League together for Barcelona. Argentina and Brazil have met hundreds of times but only played in four finals. Argentina defeated Brazil 2.0 goals in the final of the 1937 South American Championship. Brazil then defeated Argentina in a penalty shootout in the 2004 Copa Final. A year later, Brazil defeated Argentina 4.1 goals in the Confederations Cup final in Germany. In Copa 2007, Brazil beat Argentina by 3.0.
