Won the League of Legends cricket crown
The Bharat Capitals players were on fire in the final
New Delhi. India Capitals led by Ross Taylor (82 runs) beat Bhilwara Kings by 104 runs to clinch the title in the final match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Wednesday. The winning team of this league, held for the first time in India, received a prize of Rs 2 crore and the runner-up got Rs 1.5 crore. Thanks to a century partnership between Taylor and Mitchell Johnson (62 runs) and a quick innings from Ashley Nurse (42 not out), India Capitals came out of a tough situation to post 211 for seven. Kings were never comfortable chasing this target and kept losing wickets at frequent intervals. In the end, Kings’ innings collapsed for 107 runs in 18.2 overs.
Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, India Capitals lost four wickets for 21 runs. Captain Gautam Gambhir (8), Dwayne Smith (3), Hamilton Masakadja (1) and Dinesh Ramdin (0) were dismissed cheaply by Rahul Sharma (30-4) and Monty Panesar (13-2). But after that Taylor, Johnson and Nurse gave the team big scores. It was Taylor’s second consecutive fifty against the Kings. Earlier, Taylor had played an impeccable innings of 84 against the same team in Jodhpur on October 2. This is Taylor’s third fifty in this league. Meanwhile, Johnson completed the first half century in this league.

But Johnson got out in 35 balls with seven fours and three sixes. Taylor and Johnson made a partnership of 126 runs for the fifth wicket. Nurse now came to support Taylor, who scored an unbeaten 60 against the Kings in the last match. Meanwhile, captain Irfan Pathan again brought Rahul into the attack and Rahul took the wicket of Taylor. Taylor hit 4 fours and 8 sixes off 41 balls. Rahul didn’t stop there and got his fourth success by running out Liam Plunkett (0) in his fourth over. Not even a nurse. He took the Capitals past 200 with six fours and a six off just 16 balls.
Kings lost the wickets of Morne van Wyk (5), William Porterfield (12) and Yusuf Pathan (6) chasing a tough target for a total of 44 runs. Pawan Swaal walks Porterfield and Yusuf and Johnson takes the wicket of Vick. Shane Watson (27 runs, 19 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) but Jessel Karia (22 runs, 17 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) remained at the wicket. Runs were being made but the run rate was increasing. Kings needed 138 runs in the last 10 overs. It would have been possible with Watson but it would have required a couple of big overs but Kings lost a career wicket for a total of 76 runs.
Now captain Irfan (2) came to support Watson but Watson was run out for a total of 76 runs and left the innings. Irfan too could not bear this pressure and was dismissed for a total of 81 runs. The captain had to know that the Kings’ innings was reduced to 107 runs. For the Capitals, Pawan Suwal, Praveen Tambe and Pankaj Singh took two wickets each while Johnson and Plunkett got one each.
