Television actress Vaivavi Upadhyay died in a car accident in Himachal Pradesh on May 22. His car collided with a truck and fell into the valley. Although the bride was accompanied by her fiancé, she suffered only a few injuries. The Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai actress is said not to be wearing a seatbelt after her fiancee’s death. However, her fiancee has now broken her silence and claimed that this is not the case.
“There’s a perception that you speed up on a road trip, but it wasn’t like that. Our car was standing still and waiting for the truck to pass. I’m not in a position to talk too much, but I wanted to make sure people didn’t assume. That we were not wearing seat belts or speeding,” Baibhavi’s fiance, Jai Gandhi, told E-Times. The two were scheduled to get married in December this year.
The late actress’ brother Ankit Upadhyay also supported Joy’s statement and added, “She was always alert and never sat in a car without a seat belt. So, on a road trip, she would be extra careful. The doctors also confirmed how she had a seat belt scar on her neck. It is sad that we were thinking of planning her wedding, but now she is gone.
It was her former co-star JD Majethia who first claimed that Vaibhavi was not wearing a seatbelt. He was talking to the paparazzi after the actress’ funeral when he said, “She was in Himachal with her fiance. They were supposed to get married in December. Their car was at a junction and the road was quite narrow. They stopped to let a truck pass. The truck was passing them. , it hit the car and it slid into the valley. It crashed and he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.”
Apart from the TV show Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Vaibhavi Upadhyay also appeared in Kya Kasur Hai Amla Ka, the digital series Please Find Attached and the movie Chhapaak. The actor was fairly famous in the Gujarati theater circuit.
