Lal Krishna Advani (LK Advani) paid tribute to the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar by issuing a statement today (February 6) and recalled the long association with her. He said, ‘Lata ji was a good person. I was struck by his simplicity, warmth and above all, his love for our great country in every meeting.

LK Advani says ‘Ram Bhajan’ sung by Lata ji became the ‘signature tune’ of her ‘Rath Yatra’ from Somnath to Ayodhya. According to the media report, he further writes in the statement, ‘Lata ji has always been my favorite among popular singers and having a long association with her, I consider myself lucky.’
Lata Mangeshkar recorded and sent Ram Bhajan to LK Advani
LK Advani, recalling his old association with Lata ji, says, ‘I remember the time when she recorded a beautiful Shri Ram Bhajan and sent it to me. Then I was about to start my Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya. That memorable song – ‘Ram Naam Mein Jadu Aisa, Ram Naam Mann Bhaye, Mann Ki Ayodhya Til Tak Suni, Till Ram does not come…’ had become the signature tune of my Rath Yatra.
LK Advani liked this song of Lata ji the most
He said, ‘Out of the countless beautiful songs of Lata ji sung for Hindi cinema, I especially liked ‘Jyoti Kalash Chahalke’. I was overwhelmed every time Lata ji sang this song at public events on my request.’ Lata Mangeshkar passed away today at the age of 92 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on 6 February.
