Adnan Sami talks about working with Lata Mangeshkar for Salman Khan starrer Lucky No Time for Love.
Adnan Sami has been a part of Bollywood for a long time. The singer who rose to fame with her single Lift Kara Dey went on to collaborate with names like Amitabh Bachchan and Lata Mangeshkar. Her kawali number ‘Bhar Do Jholi’ in Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan became a chartbuster after its release.
In a new interview, Adnan Sami talks about working with Lata Mangeshkar and Salman Khan in the 2005 release Lucky No Time for Love. They both sang the song ‘Ek Ajanvi Sa Ehsas Dil Ko Bataye’.
Speaking to Subhash K Jha for ETimes, Adnan Sami shared, “I will forever be indebted to this opportunity to compose and sing for Devi. When this opportunity came, Lataji drastically reduced her singing. He agreed immediately. She could never say no to me.
Adnan Sami recalls that Lata Mangeshkar called him after the release of Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s song. The singer shared, “This was after recording the devotional Kawali Vaar Do Jholi Meri for the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He called me and said he liked it. Coming from the Queen of Melody, reincarnated as Mata Saraswati, whom I idolize and love like millions across the world, it was a pat on the back that I will cherish forever. He was always so warm and enthusiastic.”
Adnan Sami added, “I grew up watching him as my father’s idol. He couldn’t sleep until he heard Lataji’s lullaby dhire se aja ri ankhian mein. When I came to India, I only wanted to meet him. And when Lataji sang for me in Lucky, I felt I had reached the height of my career.”
Meanwhile, Adnan Sami’s last single ‘Alvida’ resonates with Persian poet Rumi’s song, “Farewell is only for those who love with their eyes… As, for those who love with their heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation.” The peppy number was characterized by the signature and classic vibe that all of Sami’s songs are known for. The music video features the musician alongside Punjabi actor Sarah Khatri.
