NEW YORK: Kemba Walker became the seventh NBA player to triple-double at Christmas and beat the erased Atlanta Hawks 101-87 on Saturday for their first win in a decade.
Julius Randall had 25 points and 12 rebounds in a matchup between the teams seen in the first round of last season’s playoffs for the Knicks. But the Hawks missed Trey Young, one of nine players in the NBA’s health and safety protocol, so it wasn’t a rematch of Atlanta’s five-game win.
Walker finished with 10 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. This is the first triple-double at Christmas since the 2017 Golden State Drymond Green.
John Collins and Dylan Wright each scored 20 points for the Hawks, who were playing at Christmas for the first time since 1989.
