Sacramento, California: California is bringing back the statewide indoor mask mandate.
The administration of Governor Gavin Newsmass has announced that the new order will take effect on Wednesday and will last until January 15. The order comes as the per capita rate of new coronavirus cases in California has risen by 47% in the past two weeks.
California is also tightening existing testing requirements by ordering a negative test within a day or two, depending on the type of test, of immunized people attending an indoor event for 1,000 people or more. The state is recommending travelers who travel to or return to California to be tested within five days of their arrival.
