Everything was lost in the riots of 1984
Anand Mahindra shared the story of the autorickshaw driver named Paramjit Singh. According to Better India reports, before 1984, he was the sole distributor of Rasna (ready to make energy drink) in Delhi. He had 7-8 autos from which he used to supply spices to shops in Delhi. His business was destroyed in the Sikh riots of 1984 and Rossna’s dealership passed to him. Later he tried to join hands with other companies but failed, he started taxi driving.
Escape from death
After about 7 years, he met with a terrible accident. He had a very painful accident in Mussoorie and was in a coma for 13 days. But somehow he came out of the face of death. He suffered broken bones in his knees and hands, which took a long time to heal. Then he also had a stroke. But he escaped from that too. Singh now drives autorickshaws in Delhi.
People have praised it on social media
Commenting on Anand Mahindra’s post, many praised Paramjit Singh’s spirit. But some also call it a system failure. One user tweeted, “Those who could have grown Rasna, had to drive autorickshaws due to riots. It’s a big loss for India. They need proper support to build the next Rasna (company).”
