Test, another test, results, quarantine: When you land at Mumbai International Airport, you need to follow the cove drill

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has made RT-PCR testing mandatory for all international passengers landing at Mumbai International Airport. Some of these decisions are part of a growing coveted case involving Omicron.

The amended order states, “All international passengers who test positive for the RT-PCR test quickly will have to undergo the routine RT-PCR test at the airport.” If the routine RT-PCR test is positive, the sample will be sent immediately. Genome sequencing and the passenger will be sent to the institutional quarantine.

The city reported 10,860 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, 34.37 percent more than the day before and the highest daily count since April 7, 2021, when two more patients died from the infection. With these additions, the number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai has jumped to 8,18,462, with the death toll rising to 16,381, the BMC said in a bulletin.

Mayor Kishori Pednekar warned residents that if the number of daily cases exceeds 20,000, a lockdown would be imposed in the city in accordance with central government rules.

Speaking to reporters at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters on Tuesday, Pednekar suggested that people wear triple-layer masks when traveling on public buses and local trains. He appealed to them to get vaccinated as soon as possible and to follow all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to Covid-19.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray may address the people in a few days, he said. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on Wednesday chaired a meeting with state health minister Rajesh Tope and senior government officials to decide whether curfew should be increased and other cowardly-appropriate behavior.

Here are the rules for flyer landing in Mumbai:

    • Passengers will be asked to undergo RT-PCR test if they test positive quickly.

দ্রুত If a quick test negative is found, the passenger will be allowed to go home and be quarantined for 7 days.

    • If a passenger is found positive and shows symptoms, he / she will be admitted to Seven Hills / Bombay Hospital / Breach Candy Hospital.

Previously, RT-PCR testing was mandatory only for international travelers from ‘at-risk countries’.
