The Delhi government announced on Sunday that a night curfew would be imposed in the national capital from 11pm to 5am in view of the irresistible increase in the Covid-19 case. Sources said the order would be issued on Monday morning. The night curfew will be effective from December 27.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has extended the management cap till midnight on December 31 with its coveted restrictions such as ban on social and cultural gatherings and 50 per cent seating capacity in bars and restaurants.
The current approved and restricted activities will continue on the night between 31 December and 1 January, the DDMA order said. Political, social, cultural, religious and similar gatherings were not allowed.
Meanwhile, 290 new Covid-19 cases and one death were reported in Delhi on Sunday, according to a health bulletin published by the health department. On Saturday, the national capital reported 249 new cases of coronavirus.
With that, the growing number rose to 14,43,352 and the death toll stood at 25,105. The number of active cases stood at 1,103, of which 583 patients were in home isolation.
The announcement comes amid an increase in the number of Omicron cases in the country.
