New Delhi. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on Thursday said that Hollywood movies need to be discouraged. Instead, there is a need to promote Indian films in different languages. The late-year-old actress, who was in the national capital to promote her upcoming film ‘Thalaivi’ based on the life of the late J Jayalalithaa, said ‘India’ is important to prioritize ‘people’ and our industry to create ‘self-reliance’.
“We need to discourage American and English films because they have been occupying our screens,” Kangana Ranaut told reporters at a press conference. We have to behave like a nation. We must refrain from dividing ourselves into North India or South India. We have to enjoy our movies first, be it Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu or Punjabi.
The actress said, ‘Hollywood has destroyed the French, Italian, German and other industries by creating a global monopoly. He said we should make our people and our industry our priority. This is the way to build a self-reliant India.
Ranaut’s latest film ‘Thalaivi’ is set to be released simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. It is directed by AL Vijay and written by KV Bijendra Prasad, Madan Karki and Rajat Aurora. Arvind Swamy, NASA and Bhagyashree have also acted in ‘Thalaivi’ produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R. Singh. The film will be released in theaters on Friday.
Kangana Ranaut has claimed that the national multiplex chain ‘Thalaivi’ has decided not to show the film. Kangana shared a news article on her Instagram story, which called for banning the multiplex chain ‘Thalaivi’ from appearing.
