    IND vs SA: Rishabh Pant completes special ‘Century’ in Centurion Test, Mahendra Singh Dhoni lags behind


    New Delhi. The first match of the Test series between India and South Africa is being played at Centurion. Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant completed a special century on the third day of the Test. As a wicketkeeper, he completed 100 of his wickets. Pant achieved this feat in his 26th Test and became the wicket-keeper to take 100 wickets in the fewest Tests for India. He left behind former captains Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Riddhiman Saha. They have both made 100 catches in 36 Tests. Then there are Kiran More (39 Tests), Nayan Mangia (41 Tests) and Syed Kirmani (42 Tests).

    Rishabh Pant Mohammad Shamir completed his 100th wicket in Test cricket by catching Temba Babuma. Pant has taken 3 catches so far in this match. He first caught South African captain Dean Elgar, Temba Bavuma and then Vian Mulder behind the wicket. Leading the list is South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock, who has amassed 100 wickets in 22 Tests.

    Pant is the sixth Indian wicketkeeper to take 100 wickets in a Test. In Test cricket, Dhoni has taken a maximum of 294 wickets. He took 256 catches and 38 stumpings. At the same time, Pant had 89 catches and 7 stumpings in 25 matches before this Test.

    Earlier, India were bowled out for 327 in their first innings on the third day of the Centurion Test. India lost the last 6 wickets in 55 runs. He dismissed Dean Elgar, the captain of the hosts, in the fifth ball of his first over. Pant caught Elgar’s ball. However, after the lunch break, Bumrah got injured and left the field. Then Temba Babuma and Quinton de Kock added 72 runs for the 5th wicket. Shardul Tagore broke the dangerous looking pair by bowling the deck.
